Studio 180

Studio 180 is a converted Georgian terrace containing five unique artists studios. Ideally situated in central London (SE1) it is close to transport links and the nearby cultural hub of Southbank. Each studio has been purposefully tailored, drawing on both the original features of the building and intimate nature of the space. Within Studio 180 we aim to create an sociable working environment that inspires resident and guest artists to explore and develop their practice.

The Basement at Studio 180 is a multi functional space that plays host and can be hired for a number of creative events. These include live music gigs, art exhibitions, theatre performances, dinner club and cinema nights, and we are alway open to new ideas and concepts.

Just 200m down the road from Studio 180 is our sister site Make Space Studios. This is a much larger site with 60 artist studios

Bottom Less is a group exhibition taking place throughout Studio 180 in December. We have pulled together an amazing group of artworks from some truly exceptional artists, and this show will be a rare opportunity to see the space transformed by so many personalities in such a way.

On 20th November 2011 we shot a new stop frame animation throughout Studio 180 to promote the new website and indeed the space. This will be with you very shortly and is well worth waiting for. On 19th November 2011 The newly formed Palmer Violets played a secret gig within the basement space. Watch this space to hear more from them in 2012.

On tuesday 15th November 2011 Gwilym Gold came to Studio 180 and gave us the first listen to his as yet unnamed new album in Bronze, a new format for recorded music in which the recorded material is transfigured to produce a unique version on each listen. Bronze Format was created by Gwilym Gold and Lexxx and can be downloaded from www.gwilymgold.com. There are more photos from the event on the gallery page.

On the 21st October 2011 Studio 180 was taken over for an amazing one night pop up exhibition ‘A Fly in the Ointment Sweetens the Pill’ by Coup D’etat www.iuliafilipovscaia.com. For many more photos of the evening please check out the gallery page.
